The X Conxemar-FAO Congress will analyze the current and future challenges of the fishing industry.
As has been customary for a decade, the Conxemar Association will hold the X Conxemar-FAO Congress at the Afundación Social Center in Vigo one day before the opening of the Fair (Monday, October 3). In this edition, the event will bring together leading experts and professionals in the field of fisheries to analyze the current and future challenges of the fishing industry, after a global pandemic, a historical logistical bottleneck and in a complicated context of inflation, high costs for the industry and loss of consumer purchasing power.

Among the confirmed speakers are Leyre Goti, president of the European Association of Fisheries Economists; Fernando González-Laxe, professor of applied economics; Enric Tico, president of FETEIA (Spanish Federation of Freight Forwarders); Xosé Martínez, director of Kaleido Logistics; Thue Barfod, global seafood director of Maersk; Eva Ortiz, general manager for Spain and Portugal of Eimskip Logistic; Konrad Geldenhuys, marketing director of Sea Harvest; Héctor Fernández Santiago, sustainability director of Bolton Food; Damián Santos, general manager of Pesquera San Isidro from Argentina; Willem Van del Pijl, senior analyst of the shrimp industry; Tetsuya Horie, general manager of cephalopods of Japan's Maruha Nichiro; Audun Lem, assistant director of Fisheries and Aquaculture of FAO; associate scientist Andrew Thorne Lyman and Dr. Dave Love, the latter two representing the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
